At a recent art fair in which I participated I stood for two days in the Okanagan heat and didn't sell a single painting. Disheartening, but these things happen. A week later I received a phone call from a woman with whom I had spoken at the fair. She asked me to visit her orchard and paint plein air. While I didn't paint there, I did go and take photos and had the chance to speak to her when, unexpectedly, she asked me if I would paint a pair of her shoes from decades earlier. I could see how much it meant to her and I don't like to disappoint. We agreed on the commission and here's is the result. So you just never know when you participate in an art fair and don't sell something immediately. Sorry, SOLD.
